2001 dodge ram sport atf capacity

Hi i have a 2001 dodge ram sport 5.9L, just wondering how much atf it will hold when its dry. The chiltons manual says 9-16.3 quarts depending on model. I am doing a complete flush so i just need to know how much to buy, thanks
