hey i think my cat is gone on my 98 dodge 1500 and i was talking to a buddy of mine about it and he told me to just get rid of it has anyone tryed this or is a really bad idea

 

There was a "recall" on these. Go to your dealer and they should do a flowtest and if its bad they'll replace it for free.

But for more performance I'd go with a Magnaflow cat. You could take it out but you would need an O2Sim for your downstream O2 sensor.

 

Where can you get an O2 Sim??

 

google 02 simulator or look on ebay.. they run between 20 and 60 bux... plugs into your 02 harnes for the forward sensor.. you can just hack off the aft one...the forward one is the important one

 

Nooooooo, the one aft of the converter will set off a code as well. It's there to make sure the converter is functioning properly. If it's not, it sets a code...and you're supposed to go in and get the converter replaced. Do not pass go...please pay the dealer $300 [&:]
