My friend has a 97 Chevy ext cab 2wd with a 5.7 Vortec with headers and a glasspack, he stomps the crap out of my truck. I have a 97 ram sport ext cab 4x4 with a 360 and straight pipe w/factory cat. One reason chevys are faster is their tranny gearing, these are the ratios for a GM 4L60-E transmission and a standard 3.73 gear set and a 46RE dodge trans with my factory 3.50 rear gear set.

4L60-E
1st-3.059
2nd-1.625
3rd-1.000
4th-0.696
RearAxle:3.73

46RE
1st-2.45
2nd-1.45
3rd-1.00
4th-0.69
RearAxle-3.50

That and my truck is WAY heavier than his, and i have 32s and hes got 275/65/16 tires on lighter aluminum wheels.

I had a friend of mine want to race me once with his Dakota. He dumped so much money into it it was funny. CIA, TB Spacer (even though they don't do anything), exhaust, headers. All I had was my exhaust and I smoked him [8D] He thought for sure he'd win with all that crap he put on there. Crapy V-6's!!!

a 3.9 magnum is no mach with a 5.7 chevy a fair mach is with the 4.3 chevy and they are very close i have to say i raced the 97 stock blazer 4.3L with a stock 03 Dakota 3.9 and they wore Dead even every time not sure about the weight difference.
