Default Vortec 5.7 vs Magnum 5.9

Me and a friend were argueing about this, and were wondering who would win in a race between his 96' silverado 4x4 ext. cab with the 5.7 or my 98' ext. cab ram 4x4 with the 5.9. Ive been in his and hammer down its pretty peppy, but goverens before 100. Mine isnt too bad itself when she's tromped down......and Ive never tried it but have heard the dodges can hit 115. Both are stock, except i have dual exhaust[8D]......SO who would win???

I'd guess his until you hit 100 if you kept going I think you would come back past him. I think the 5.7L would definately accelerate faster though. Or maybe it's just the tires on mine that make it slow I don't know.

Exhausts helps ALOT at high RPM. I know just above 2k RPM I can really feel mine start speeding up faster.

I had a friend of mine want to race me once with his Dakota. He dumped so much money into it it was funny. CIA, TB Spacer (even though they don't do anything), exhaust, headers. All I had was my exhaust and I smoked him [8D] He thought for sure he'd win with all that crap he put on there. Crapy V-6's!!!

I have a '96 5.9L ext. cab 2wd and I beat a '96 5.7L vortec 2x4 by about a truck length and that was before I had exhaust or a cold air intake or headers...

I got the '96 indy ram and have trounced several vortechs rear wheel drive w/posi, gibson super truck cat back, and volant coldair with ram air tube. Edged out two against my friend before the volant intake and destroyed him after. The ones i see on the hwy won't race me.

They can be for both Take a ride in a slightly modded V10 once ...or a 78 Little Red Express (79s were sluggish). [8D]

i have a 96 dodge 4x4 5.9 and my friend has a 98 5.7 vortec 4x4. both extended cab. both 33 inch tires but mine are mud and his are all terrain. we are both lifted, me 3 inch coil spacers, him 6 inch suspension. his mods are a K&N CAI and a muffler. i am stock with no muffler. he gets me by about a truck and a half, but we have never raced past 75 or 80 mph. he seems as if hes pulling away however its hard to tell.

and by the way i can only hit 100 in my truck. but i bought it with 33's and i dont think the speedo has been changed. who knows.
