Default which would win?

i have a 2001 1500 4x4 with a 5.2 manual tranny.. i was wondering exactly who would win in a race against 2 5.2's... one automatic and one manual? i know automatics shift a lot quicker but manuals you can bring the rpm's up higher.. what do you guys think?

If the driver of the manual shifts perfectly every time the manual. Less power loss when going to the wheels with the manual tranny.

I agree but with the auto thow you can get the rpms up too thow you just start out with it in 1st gear and keep bumping it up wen you want to shift but the guy has really got to know his truck to to it in a stick

Well does anyone know what the round-about shift point is to go into the gear? And does anyone know what the right launch point rpm is the best to get a manual off the line quicker? I have a 5-speed and I don't know what the best launch point is to get down the strip quicker.
