Default trans temp warning light

hey, on my instrument cluster, when i start my truck, all the warning lights light up, including one that says, "trans temp"

is this even active... like the maint required light.....

i have never seen either come on during driving, (the 4 years i have had my truck)

also.... that wire that makes the trans temp come on>>>>> where does it go>? to the computer? or to the actually tranny... would i be able to hook a gauge up to that wire.. thanks

Yes, it is active if you have the factory tow package, but an actual gauge is much better. You wouldn't want an electrical trans temp gauge though. Mechanical ones are MUCH better...more accurate...and as far as the autometer line is concerned, the temps don't go high enough on the electric gauges.

The main't req. light is for 2500's only I think, or just the trucks with desiels. Something like that, but I don't think its used at all on the 1500's.
