I'm not brand loyal but I wouldn't put up with 9 yrs worth of trouble, if mine starts to give me problems I will give it about a month and then just go back to a Toyota or Nissan again.
Sounds like your wire harness got totally fried (column?) many years ago and you've been fighting the gremlins ever since. Any vehicle will become a lamb once the electrical system has been hosed. Sell it, count your loses and move on.
