Default difference between radial and bias baja claws?

my friend is selling the wheels and tires off his now wrecked '97 ram. i have a '98 1500 4x4 5.2L longbed reg cab, with no lift yet.
my tires are dying now, so i need new rubber anyway. he is offering me a set of 33" baja claws mounted on mickey thompson classic 2 wheels for $500. the tires and wheels are only a week old, he had just put them on before he was hit.
i do not know if they are bias or radial though.
i do know the physical difference between the two ply types, but i have not had experience with bias before.
i have heard they flat spot in the cold, but is there anything else i should worry about if they are bias? this is a semi-daily driven truck, but i do offroad (mainly through mud) with my friends fairly often with my friends.

also, how badly would they rub w/o the lift kit?
he says he had a 3" lift on his truck and they didn't rub...would a 3" lift be enough to clear with no rubbing?

thanks!

Omg YES!!

My favorite tire. I love them

Well here's my view. The radial tire is better for the street by far. With the radial expect better mpg and a tougher tire for the road. The steel belts help stiffen the tire for better control on the road. The bias ply is kinda mushy and the tread is a deeper cut. Before buying the bias ply tire make sure your not a huge highway driver cause your buying a more offroad type tire. If you just drive local streets to work and spend alot of time in the dirt you will enjoy the bias ply. Its softer and smooths out rough terrian when you air them down.

Now all that said for the 500.00 you should just buy them and not care. Thats a huge savings. Each tire is like 200+ bucks new and the fact they are on rims already is awesome. You really cant go wrong for that price.

I had the radials and loved them. I plan to buy the bias ply for the georgia clay im going to play in this summer. I will be honest with you and tell you I plan to have some smaller street tires on my stock rims so I can pull the mickeys off if I use my truck to drive out of state. 2 sets of tires is always good to have. Only takes about 10 mins to swap tires with a impact gun and a floor jack. The mickeys are not so good on fuel economy. If you dont buy these tires have your friend contact me I'd like to see them.

See ya

thats a perfect review of the info i was looking for! they do look badass too, so i plan on picking them up.

can i ask what size you have on your truck? what size lift do you have?
will the 33's rub horribly w/o a lift? 3" lift be enough to clear with no rubbing?

thanks again!

I have the radials on my truck they are 35" x 12.5" Ialso have a 4" lift and there is alot of clearance, no rubbing. I personally like these tires the really look bad ***! Ido use the expressway now and again and they actually ride pretty nice for an off road tire. the only thing you have to get used to is the vibration you get when your driving at slower speeds and coming to a stop. Oh dont forget about the hummung sound (I like it). All in all I would buy em, even if you dont like them you would definately get your money back if not more.

Again OMG!

I dont have these tires on my ram yet! I tried - I am overseas and I cant get 33's or larger shipped to me where I am stationed.

Im not going to bore you with the story but the tires you saw were 31's and on a ford ranger. I will warn you if you go too wide they rub when you turn. Buy them stick them on a see. You can always ebay them for MORE than your buddys charging you. In my opinion for 500.00 on rims you should do it

The tires hum alittle on the road at high speed but i dont think it matters after I put the flowmaster on it. You will get used to it.
