Default Gutted cat-O2 sensor question

I have a 5.9l with a single cat and single o2 sensor. I bought a magnaflow cat and gutted it, (I wanted to save my stock one for last resort for inspections) Will it throw a code with the new cat gutted? I also bought an o2 simulator just in case. I am in NY and inspections now do not do emmisions tests but they do wire up the computers to the state computers for codes.

Default RE: Gutted cat-O2 sensor question

Depends it if the O2 is upstream or downstream from the cat. If I'm not mistaken a single O2 system it is before the cat, or on the upstream side. If you only have one before the cat your fine and won't need the sim. But if its after the cat you will need to plug in the sim to get to CE light off.
