Default Great amouts of slop in steering

I have a 97 1500 ram. It has a total of 10in of lift and 38s on it. I have spent around 500 dollars in bearing and u joints replacing the steering and still no avail. What could cause this and how to fix it. It is about a half of a turn and it finally turns. Would the burgeson steering colum work and fix the problem thanks.

www.lukeslink.com

That rebuilds all your bushings and such, its probably a trac bar problem with that much lift

Also try to adjust your steeringbox, that helped mine out alot. Read the FAQ thread at the top and it tells how to do it. Welcome to DF!

It will almost definately be the steering box as my 1500 did the same. Simple fix really if u follow the directions. I found them on a website or forum and it gave u a step by step on how to do it. Was great!

Although now i have done that and sorted out all the slop the colum decided to go on me i think. Its got a buggered uni joint in it i think. Gives a small thud when u turn it slightly side to side. Would it be anything else? I have checked just about everything. And do they just fail and u lose steering altogether? Problem is its a daily driver and i would have to order one from Summit or Jegs cause im in Australia.

Sorry to high jack the thread

Thanks

Simon
