98, quad cab 4x4 rear end noise ??
Hey guys,
Looking for a little help. I have a 98' Ram Quad-4X4, 5.2L, 105k miles. Had a tune-up done and the sucker runs great. Now I am hearing a noise from the back. It is kind of like when you put new brake pads on before they get broken in (metal on metal but not serious grinding). It only happens when the truck acceleratres from 15 mph and up. If you take your foot off and coast or press the brake no sound. I checked the drive shaft and it seems solid, I don't know about the rear end or it's fluid level and the back drums have never been done. Can someone please point me in the right direction on what to check or tell me if this is normal and that may have never noticed it before. I do have a check engine for speed sensor due to one size over the printed maximum tire rating. I believe they are 285/BF groodrich AT's
Thanks

I would check the fluid level in the diff I am having the same issue with my F150, it is leaking from the front diff seal an does that when it is low. if you have not checked it before you really need to even if that is not the issue.
I rebuilt the rear at 117.000 miles hopefully Ill get another hundred out of her Put on jackstands chuck the front wheels and let idle in gear.Use one of those stethescope things to pinpoint noise. For god sake be carefull.
