Default rack for the trucks...

ok so i've been thinking of a good way to get my snowboard and bike to the mountains, and trails. i want a bed rack that can do both hold a bike or a board. so now here is my question.

do any of you know of a good rack that would allow me to do this? possibly a removable rack not a permanent drill into the bed rack? the only things i've seen are the hitch mounts (and i don't have a hitch as of yet) or drilling into the roof of the cab.

it's a 2001 4dr quad cab short bed. if you have any ideas of companies other than Yakima or Thule that i should look into i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks

I built a removable rack for my truck. It fits into the stake pockets and extends out over the cab. I use it all of the time for long lumber and siding. If you want, I can post some pics so you can get an idea of what I built.

id like to see the pics... sounds like its similair to the BackRack systems... them are nice!

i know what you mean crazy... id like a nice spot to mount my brand new destroyer when i make a trip to the snowpark... i actually though of making something to hold the board on the lid of the bed/tool box/truck box... its a standard lid not a gullwing and would look decent... id would just have to figure out a way to lock it since the board will be out in the open ...
