Default truck died

hey there... so driving my truck tonight about -10c out and its been running fine except for the fact that it has a hard time starting when its warm.... It starts fine when its cold, but when its been running at reg temp, and then i turn it off and go to start it, it cranks for about 5-10 seconds and then finally turns over...... unless i turn the key to ignition so i hear the fuel pump kick in, then she will start fine......

anyways so im driving it, and it wasnt even warm yet, and i was in second gear, and it surged... then i went to accelerate... and there was nothing.... i turned off the stero and realized the truck wasnt running... so i try to start it and it just cranks and cranks and cranks but will not turn over.....

no check engine light or nothing...... So i decided to tap my gas tank with a flashlight a couple times.... then it turned over, and before i had a chance to give it as, it died for good....
a cop came as my girlfriend and i were pushing it, he helped us push it to a parking lot, and then gace us a ride home...

so is it a good assumption to say its my fuel pump..

I just put gas in the truck nice and full tank.... does the tank have to be dropped in order for replacement....

Yup! Gotta drop it.
How many miles?Too early to convert kms to miles! Can you hear the pump at all when you turn the ignition on?Haven't changed any yet, so I really can't tell you how, but I'm sure someone here will get back soon.

there are 2 ways to change the pump, one is to drop the tank & the other is to pull the bed. some swear by the bed method but to me it seemed like a lot of work so I dropped my tank... there is a writeup in the diy forum.

one suggestion might be to pump it dry thru the fillup tube.
