Dodgeboy, the heater core is under/behind the dash panel in a large black plastic HVAC box.
Also, I would take things a step further and flush ALL components separately. Take off hoses, t-stat, etc. Flush rad., block, heater core. Run a good chemical flush through each. Hook up fittings if you have to to get some good hose pressure through each one.
