Default V-10 With Gibson side swept Exhaust

Well just bought mine today, wondering if anyone else is running the Gibson Exhaust system on there truck. I have heard they sound pretty good. I needed replace ment exhaust from rust, sooo I figured I would give my old girl something nice, maybe it will in turn treat me nice (not likely, with gas at almost $1 a litre).

Any input?

Nobody here is running it that I know of...at least not on a V10. And the V8 is a totally different animal.

Back when the V10 boards used to be active, there were several guys running it. They said it gave the exhaust a somewhat better sound than stock. Apparently there aren't too many ways to get this motor to sound good though...especially with the stock cam. [>:]

I say, who needs a mean sound when you have 10 cylinders I'd rather them think I was runnin' a V6 with V10 badges...until the light changes and my foot drops [8D]

If you want something that will improve your mileage, look into a fastman throttle body or a K&N FIPK. Those are the two items that will net you the most gains.

The exhaust isn't crappy...the V10 is just a different animal, like I said before. The cylinders don't have the overlap that a V8 has. Therefore you get more of a smoother V6 sound from the motor. You can make it sound loud, and in my opinion the stock system is loud enough...even with the HORRIBLE "non-flow" muffler they have on there. But it will never have the good sounding (and popular) rumble that a v8 has. There have been guys that have tried 3..4..5 different setups trying to find that sound. That's not saying you can't make it sound mean. I've heard a few Vipers, and they sound pretty mean [8D] The guy that has the V10 in his Little Red Express also has a pretty mean sounding exhaust note, but it has A LOT to do with the cam he has in it. Just like working with V6s...a cam is the best (and pretty much only) way to make the V10 sound good. There's a difference between sounding good and sounding loud

Side Swept is just a fancy term for cat-back as far as I know. Here's some info on the system: http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...4922451+303750

I'm looking to get a Gibson muffler to replace the stock one on my truck, and then a Diesel tail pipe...one that angles more towards the back of the truck and towards the ground as it exits. I'm sick of parking it next to the garage and plastering the side with exhaust when I start it up...same goes for running it while it's in storage next to my GP. [>:]

Well I picked it up from the mail today. I was so happy it showed up (Big thank you to SummitRacing.com). Super fast shipping and great price.

So instead of waiting 12 hours to install it in my shop with the welder and air tools and hoist. I did it in my drive way

1 hour and 30 mins later(hand tools and hacksaw), shes in, couple minor leaks to fix, and away I go.

There is definatly a nicer throatier sound outta this thing. What I like about it is it is still quiet around the lower rpms, but hit the happy pedal and she gets alittle noisy. Not LOUD, but enough that people know your coming.
