Tranny/throttle shift adjustment
i dont remember the actual article... but some claim is the "riged" way of a shift kit... pretty much advancing your shift point by adjust the cable... not hard to do... on the tb braket that fixes the cables to the tb cams... the aft one coming from the back of the engine, from the tranny... on the actual plastic clip that holds the cable to the tb braket .. theres a bottom..if you depress that button it allows the cable to move in and out of its sheath... to advance it you would push the botton in and out the cable aft towards the cab.... this would advance it..so when you hit the throttle the pull on the tv cable would be advanced.... most say if you move the cable more then an 1/8 of an inch it will be too much and could damage the tranny...not sure if thats valid or not... would nt hurt to monkey with it or whatnot
that ones for a 99..i wonder for my 01 if it would be different... i was told for mine therse a button i gotta push and it disengages the lock that hold the cable steady...so you can pull it in and out...not sure though..id like to monkey with it after my new tranny is broken in
that could also be a cuase for crappy shifts and maybe tranny problems..if that cable comes loose and slids in and out by itself... who knows?

Make sure that you move the cable in small increments. That how-to says to do it 1/8" at a time, but I would go 1/16". When I adjusted mine, I went to far and the tranny clunked like hell shifting under light throttle. I was able to adjust it to where it didn't clunk and at wot the tranny shifts ~5100 rpm. It took some fiddling to hit that fine line though.
Yes thats pretty close to the article I read, what I am trying to troubleshoot is the Dodge tendancy to hit the rev limiter when passing even though the throttle isnt mashed, Im just curious If this adjustment would work in that case, If I read it correctly 1-2 shift would be longer and it would downshift sooner when passing, so does that mean it wouldnt redline? Anyone feel free to chime in If they have done this adjustment
you hit rev limit when the truck shifts into passing gear? yea id say thats a problem..ive never heard of that happening...i mean i get it up damn near close to the redline (with out the programing) and not have the rev limit kick on... thast odd..maybe adjusting your TV cable might help ya out...im gonna adjust mine b/c everynow and then under super light throttle my tranny will shift and clunk like a bastard... its a brand new tranny and the TV cable was left alone so thats the only thing that wasnt changed and still could cause it...

Yes, If I put it down hard when trying to pass and I am in OD, it will hit rev mimiter, but I back off and its fine. Noticed it from day 1 with the truck.
thats so odd... dont understand why..maybe the TV was mis-udjusted from the factory... give that mod a wirl and see how it goes..im gonna next weekend when i change the tranny fluid to atf4 syn ... put bout 200 miles on the new tranny..figured it would be nice to change out the fluid ...
