Default Update on Ball Joints for 2001

Just got my truck back from the shop. They replaced the upper control arms and lower ball joints. Truck rides like a dream. I am thinking now a long the lines of a decent tire wheel combo. Live out in the country.. and the truck is two wheel drive. Maybe a BFG All terrain would do the trick. I plan now on coverting the rear end to a posi unit. I have seen that most of the sport trucks came with the 5.9 and a locking rear.. my truck didn't unfortunately. Any ideas or info would be great. thanks

Well theres a diffrence between posi and a locking rear Since its 2wd a locker would be nice just so you know you ALWAYS have both rear tires going. But if you tow alot your not gonna want a locker back there. Also I think lockers can eat up the back tires a little bit, am I correct anybody?

from what i know.. some lockers can be engaged and disengaged... so if you are towing or doing alot of sharp sharp turns you can unlock the rear and the axles become independent... then when your out in the country you can lock up the rear and have both wheels spinning together as one single axle shaft... usually activated by compressed air... like alot of rock crawlers use... anyone correct me if im wrong

an LSD might be up your ally... kinda best of both worlds... when its needed both wheels spin together and but dont lock together giving you ability to tow and not worry about chattering when turning tightly

Go here and they have a rating chart for what type of use. Click on the locker or posi unit to the left and look at the rating. Other sites may do the same. I'm installing the Trutrac in mine. Do not want the clunking locker and will be towing for long distances some.

I've got the LSD in mine and I like it. Had a locker(detroit) in a cj jeep and it wasn't very streetable. It also ate rear tires in a hurry. The lsd seems to give decent traction and you can still drive and turn on the street.
