I need help locating a distributor 99 ram
Okay trying to do a tune up I busted off a screw that holds the cap to the housing of the ditributor on my 99 Ram... why on earth do they put aluminum screws into an aluminum cast pot metal housing I'll never know, anyhow trying to drill it out and run a tap proved fatal to the housing, does anyone have a distibutor around for a 99 ram 5.2 l or 5.9 will work........
ps, I posted in the main page rather than the wanted page because this gets more views and I need it right away its my only ride and need to get to and from work in it.......Thanks Tim

Well what I thought to be a simple tune up turned into an all day project, ended up taking out the distributor, drilling larger hole in it and using a longer bolt and nut to hold that side of the cap down (it will be a pita each time I do cap and rotor from here out) then I put it back in and have no way to see the timing marks I made just before I pulled it to be sure it went back in the same spot-----so off comes the valve covers and intake which requires removal of almost the whole top half of the engine, lined my timing marks back up an d tightened the distributor down, installed a new upper and lower plenum gasket kit (which need done anyhow, it had about a 1/4 inch of oil in the bottom of the intake) and low and behold after 4 plus hours its all back together and running again.....
Note to self and to anyone else-----use antisize on distibuter screws next time doing a tune up on a dodge................

me too... thats awesome you were able to fix it yourself and save your $$$$$$... prolly a good thing... you were able to get in there and do that gasket... always a good thing to get nocked out...did you use an aftermarket plenum pan and gasket or the oem from the stealership? just wondering... if you used the stock pan and a new oem gasket id keep an eye on it... dont wanna rain on your day but even the new gaskets from dodge have been known to blow...but do hold up longer and better then the OEM ones that come from the factory with the trucks
I used the factory pan and a felpro premium gasket kit, on the bottom pan to intake gasket after the gasket was installed and bolts torqed in sequence and torqed to spec it leaves a small lip all the way around and I put a bead of black aviation gasket compound all the way around it just as an added step to assist in holding up longer, the upper and lower gaskets I installed dry? and at the front and rear of the block I put a heavy amount of rtv silicone sealer especially in the angled corner areas, the truck has just about 100,000 on it and its the first time replaced, I hope it will hold up at least that long the second time around.......that way I'll never have to do it again as the truck will be long gone by then to some other owner...
