CTD are on the way OUT. Just wait two years and buy a new ram. Since Daimlar bought Mercades they have been using the mercades diesel in the Freightliners and will soon be putting them in the Rams. We have the Freights with them and they are awesome to say the least. Put mine up against one with a Cummins and theres no dought that the mercades motors are better, Smooth quiet more power. I can pull a hill and gain speed fully loaded. I have pushed the others up rt 62 which is a steady incline for about 2 miles or have just left them behind. So like I said if you are set on a Mercades motor just hold on a few and get a new one because the swap would more then likely cost the same.

They didn't buy Mercedes...the companies merged. But it was more like Mercedes bought Chrysler. [&:]Either way, I don't think you'll see a Mercedes diesel replace the Cummins under the hood of the Ram anytime soon. Chrysler knows it has a good deal with Cummins...and a HUGE loyal fanbase of owners as well as people who wished they could own one. Not to mention it's the only light truck available with a real heavy duty/big rig diesel motor.
