lol yah when i was in school we got lists of things we can and cant weld...well they can be welded but youe not susposto unless you get a procedure on it....then at work we more rules to follow when doing stuff like that at work were not even susposto put on a hitch from anouther place unles they have a reipt showing its new...i guess they got sued a while back before my time now there **** about stuff like that. we do tack weld them sometimes...more so on wintch bumbers so they cant be stolen by just unbolting them, if you use a little tacks thell break if it needs to flex and you have only a very small area affected by the welding on the frame (a small heat affected zone)

Usually all the stories about hitches, is the 10" drop reciever that breaks. Just had one break around here on the news lately and the trailer I think killed the person in the car the trailer hit. Or it is the worn reciever pin that snaps. Or some dummy didn't know they needed a clip on the trailer coupler.

we had one not too long ago where the guy put the ball on the reciver hitch hand tight and coudent figure out why it came off dident kill anyone just went off into the ditch he was lucky thow...almost makes me think there should be some cource pepole half to take to pull a traler likle with air brakes for example
