SMOG test accuracy
I do not know the details of the SMOG test but I had a question regarding the results. I have read all of these posts about bad cats, pcv valves, and o2 sensors. On the paperwork from my recent SMOG test it had those different items marked as pass. Does this mean that they are all functioning as they should be or should I somehow test the cat and o2 sensors, etc. My ram has 105000 miles so i was thinking that the cat could be bad by now but it was marked as a pass on the smog test. Thanks!
smog test only tells you if the cat is functioning properly... meaning the chemical reaction is taking place with the material inside the cat...
whats making you think your cat is bad? what are the symptoms?

symptoms of bad cats usually are extreme power loss ,, idling really ****ty... and well... red hot exhaust manifolds... lol lets hope that never happens... could very well start colapsing in on itself... a highflow will do your truck justice regardless is the cat is bad or not
