Default Brake resovior grommets

Hey guys, is it possible to replace just the resovoir grommets on the brake master cylinder?
I have a the forward grommet leaking a bit and I hate to spend the time and money to replace everything.
Thanks

It's possible to replace anything these days. I suppose your talking about the seal on top of the brake fluid resevior that is under the cap? They should sell those at autozone or any auto parts store in the "HELP!" section (those who frequent the autostores should know what im talking about) . Check there, hopefully that would help =D

Thanks, but its actually the grommet between the resevior and the valve body, where the two connect. I checked some parts stores' web sites and nobody lists a rebuild kit or just the grommets/gaskets for this problem.

id check the dealer...something tells me its gonna be a dealer part... witch means EXPENSIVE and also means itll be a PITA to replace... could check the local scrap yard for a whole cyclinder and vavlbody setup and just part out what you need

Or, just spend the money for a remanufactured master cylinder if the grommets are old enough to leak there are plenty of other things to go wrong. We sell them at Autozone and a reman cylinder shouldnt be more than 50 bucks, but I dont know off the top of my head.

I was able to buy two brake reservoir grommets from a dealership today for $15 for my 1999 dodge 1500 mark 3 van. I'm giving it a shot tomorrow but don't really know what i'm doing or if it will work. The dealership offered to replace the reservoir and master cylinder and bleed the brake line for $530!!! I'm hoping the grommets will do the trick.

Are the brakes something that you REALLY want to skimp on? Seriously? Just get the whole MS. It only cost 35 bucks. How much is an accident gonna cost you? Don't learn the hard way.

J415 With all do respect, where exactly (web address or phone #) is this $35 brake reservoir and master cylinder? Second, why must a DIY be skimping if you can do the job correct? What is your reasoning for getting the whole system as opposed to trying to fix the problem of leaky grommets? I'm willing to listen. Finally, many of us on this forum are looking to do repairs ourselves safely, we are looking for how-to help and info from people who have done it.

I just changed the reservoir grommets (2) on my 1500 van. I hammered out the pins holding the reservoir. I pulled the reservoir out. Then, I pulled the rubber grommets out, cleaned the area of grit and replaced them with new ones. Drain the reservoir first, I didn't and made a slight mess.

My apologize. I didn't notice that you had a 99. my 97 has a different style reservoir. My reason for replacing the whole thing is because my MC has 150K original miles on it so I figure, why not? If the grommet seals or on there way out, what's next? I'll do the whole MC.
