The whole purpose of the tranny cooler is to cool the fluid. Standard configuration is the attempt at cooling by routing the fluid thropugh the radiator......Beats me why they would do this, radiator runs around 180 + when engine is working. 200 when working hard....200 is on the fence with the tranny. Mine has the tow package, they ran the lines threough the radiator then the aux cooler sandwitched between rad and cond. I eliminated the rad lines, routed straight to the aux cooler, then to a big after market cooler in front of the cond. Added a tranny temp gauge and so far so good....if anything she runs too cold, on cold mornings (40 and below) until she gets warmed up I get a little TC shutter if I leave it in OD. Once the tranny gets warmed a little ...about two miles no issues.

Yeah i got to looking at it more while i was on lunch break at school... The friggin cooler is HUGE! just as big as the AC cooler (condenser? I dont do A/C work so the only thing i know about is the compressor). I dont think I will be tinkering with the transmission since it has a cooler already... of course i could always tap into that one and put an aux one in...

Put a monster in it and spend less money...
Go to the junk yard with some measurements and pick up an A/C condensor.
A tranny shop can help you with the hoses, clamps and mounting hardware.
Just a thought for the DIY'er.

BTW:
You'll want to leave it run through the radiator for cold weather as it helps warm the fluid up...but after that...240 degree oil being cooled by 190 degree water???
Every vehicle with an automatic should have a tranny cooler, period.

yea you confused me on that mike..not sure what you talkin about

thats strange on your cooler..thats the factory one you already have or one that you just got put in? either way them lines are nice...the trannyshop just used rubber tubing to put mine in... and for some reason going behind the condensor is a common thing to do... id rather it pu infront so if i wanted i could put a fan on the back side of the condensor... 2 stones kill 10 birds... or something like that
