Mechanically, if you can do the timing chain you can do the cam. Dialing it in is the hard part. Hughes has got a kit for that with a book of instructions, and "they say" when you get stumped that they will walk you through it on the phone. Of course, the whole deal involves buying the cam, kit, and timing gears/chain from them. If I was going to race my truck, I'd have gone that route, but since I'm not just went with 1.7 rr's instead.

Cams for our trucks are damn expensive. Our trucks don't have a Mass Air-Flow Sensor so the cams are designed to work with our engine.

When I was doing my t-chain my friend was trying to get me a cam and lifters. He said $450 for a cam and lifters...and trust me, he has the HOOK-UPS.

He got me my wheel bearing at 40% off, so I paid just over $100 for that. I dunno if that cam/lifter price is with 40% off, but its according to him "alot cheaper they you'd ever be able to get one"

This is probably why, with a big cam, alot of people recommend moving the MAP vacuum line off the TB to the intake.

Okay, did the plenum pan and gasket a few weeks ago----been thinking about it ever since----

I have a brain storm any thoughts or input would be great anyhow here is my idea-----what would be wrong with making an alum machined plate to fit in 1/4 and alum welding it on so there would never be a need for a gasket again, this would eliminate the gasket and have a air sealled weld that would never leak-----any one have any thoughts on this???? I am going to get an junk yard manifold and some alum and give it a try----anyone thnk of anything negative that could happen by doing this????

I posted this on Dodge Talk....... dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91502

Sorry wont let me paste the proper link....Anyhow I did this a few weeks ago...Had my buddy weld up the plenum with a sheet of alum...

See attachment for pic..
