Just whining alittle more
Pulled out my multi meter and did a few of the "checks" according the Haynes manual. Chech the map sensor, it was fine, checked the o2 sensors, they check out fine as well, check the Air Temperature sensor, wasnt fine...but previously the check engine light had not been throwing a code for this...i got to work today and checked the codes...lo and behold, 23, air temp sensor problem...ordered the part today...gonna put it tommorow and hopefully all will be well again
Thats not bad at all, lucky!
I have a few new problems myself. My front axle u-joints are on the outs, and my drivers side axle shaft seal is leaking pretty good. Not to mention my steering gear box is leaking pretty damn bad from the top end. Oh yeah, I still need to fix my plenum
Since I have 113k on my u-joints and all the other things I'm not bumed and all that I need to replace them. Nice thing is that when I do my u-joints the seals are right there to be replaced.
[sm=Awwww.gif]I love my Ram (Seriously!) [sm=Awwww.gif]

Man....I got all sorts of stuff to be whinning about, got my Ram this past christmas eve then in january I had to do the trans, so decided to go with a ramzilla tran upgrade so I don't ever have to do it again, that set me back a few grand just after most all the front end steering link crap went out so replaced the most of what needed so down a few hundred there, then in march all of a sudden the truck started running like crap, did a complete tune up in process broke a screw off for the dist cap into the dist, had to remove it drill it out and put a nut and bolt on one side, while doing that realized I forgot to line up the dist or make a mark to reinstall , could not get under the fire wall enough to see anything, so figure my Plenum was leaking anyhow, tore the whole front half of upper engine apart, pulled intake did plenum gasket and new manifold gaskets, reset distributer, redneck set the fuel sync, then the gaskets did not take right so had to do it all over again today, and its still running like death warmed over when it gets up to temp... tomorrow eve I am going to try the sea foam ordeal and see if that even helps, if not off to the dealer it goes for a complete diagnostic..........so there now I'm done whinning til I get the Bill from the dealer..............Worst part is All the funds I planned for lift, tires, dual exhast etc is now down the drain in repairs........thats a true bummer........
TJTIM,
All those problems in so short of a time? Oh boy. Fun and games. Something you can check BEFORE you go to the stealership. Check the compression in each cylinder, and if you have the tools to do so, apply a constant pressure and see if it is escaping past your intake or exhaust valves.
This happened on my 98 5.9L and found that the heads were cracked. Common problem with the Magnum engines is for cracks to develop between the intake and exhaust valves.
If that is the problem, the heads will have to be replaced, but you DON'T have to buy OEM replacements and have this happen again.
Let us know what happens.
