Default Driveshaft?

Is this an upgraded driveshaft? It looks REALLY big for a driveshaft (at least compared to my chevy it is)...

Also looks kinda new... Also I have posted pictures of my exhaust, I have found out it is Flowmaster... I just had to clean the mud off =D

So yeah, does it look bigger than normal?

This thing is at least 3 1/2 inches...

For some reason I'm liking the guy who owned my truck before me more and more...

EDIT: Ok just measured the driveshaft ... in the rain

14 in Circumference...
So 14 / PI = Is roughly 4.5 Inches...

4.5 Inch Drive Shaft?!? Is that normal???

thats gotta be aluminum... usually DS's that size are aluminum...my steal DS is alot smaller then that.. do you have a midship mount? meaning is your main DS split in two with a carrier bearing? just out of curiosity

nothing wrong with it... aluminum DS's tend to be lighter in weight so they reduce the rotational mass that is applied to the engine ... kinda like 30" wheels weigh a ton and directly affect your performance and braking... same concept...

a stroker huh? biggest weakness in the stock drive shafts area are the ujoints..ive never ever seen a drive shaft twist or snap in the middle from power from a motor...just seen alot of ujoints break... and if your gonna stroke it.. that would obviously be along the list of the extra crap you gotta do for the stroke project...

i would leave it alone for now..hell its prolyl a plus to have a lighter alum driveshaft... just dont bend it or dent it.. prolly wicked pricey to replace...i just had mine out recently for ujoints and mines steal so im unsure why you have an alum..

Yeah thats what i'm trying to figure out, why I have aluminum and everyone else has steel... I'm thinking that the dude that had it before me was modifying the engine a little, Maybe I should pop the valve covers off and see if I got roller Rockers =D That would be sweet...

So yeah... Aluminum is lighter, therefore turns easier and is less wear on the tranny... I'm thinking thats Why I'm spinning every f-in time i barely hit the gas on a turn... I mean, EVERY time i turn, it sounds like i'm trying to run from the cops...
