Default Quickie Radiator flush question

Well i am in the process of flushing my radiator. Now the manual says it takes 20 quarts. so 5 gallons. well i have about 3 gallons in there and i cant get the level to drop i ran the truck for about 30 mins. I even drove it around the block a couple times. still wont drop what would cause this to act like the system is full if it really isnt?

If you didn't drain the block also, there's where your extra coolant is...thr radiator only holds about half of the coolant in most vehicles. A completely dry engine/rad./hoses/heater core is 20 quarts to fill.

theres the plugs that are in the block ..one on each side .. underneath near the oil pan... PITA if they have never been off before..took 24HRS and alot of PB blaster to get mine off..and i still had to drive a screw driver in the open hole to get the coolant out b.c of rust build up...

I didnt pull those becuz i used a radiator flush kit. Where you hook up a hose and completely flush the system. So it said i didnt need to. I also know that i am low becuz it heats up WAY to quick. Not even 2 minutes and im about 200 degrees.

Either your t-stat is stuck shut, or there's an air pocket blocking flow...if you had no problem before, probably an air pocket.

Got one at work, it's worth it's weight in gold, especially for vehicles that don't have coolant bleeders built-in...you could also try jacking the front end up...the object is to get the rad. neck a bit higher than any other point in the cooling system...the above funnel is much better since you'd have to jack the front end up considerably to get the same effect of the funnel...plus no coolant overflow when the air pocket decides to erupt...
