Default 2 minor but irritating problems

Ok, Calling on all serious wrench-heads, gear-heads, and especially DC fanatics,

I've got 2 problems that have been bugging me about my truck since I bought it. I've seen references to the first one, but the second one is a stumper!

1. I know the 94-?? Rams tend to develop a vacuum leak under the dash that makes itself known when you press the throttle, and the vent doors under the dash close and re-direct incoming air to the defroster. Is there a certain vacuum line under there that leaks or are all of them known for leaking. I don't want to tear apart the dash to get at this without having an idea of exactly where to look or even if I have to tear apart the dash. I also know there is a TSB about this problem and that DC added in a check valve in the vacuum system where it enters the cab at the firewall. I have that mod. The reason I'm asking is to find this leak and possibly help my fuel mileage. It's dismal and the only thing I can figure is that this might help, as well as help the cruise control hold speed which it sometimes has difficulty doing. I already have overhauled the engine for an unrelated problem and the plenum has been checked and the gasket replaced there as well.

2. This one has to do with the cruise control electrical. There are times when I go to turn on the cruise control at the steering wheel, and it will not come on. This drove me nuts until I figured out a way to clear whatever it is that makes it not want to come on. I depress the cancel switch twice. Not once, TWICE. Then I use the on-off button and the cruise will come on. Can anyone tell me WTF is going on with that as well?

Sort of feel like a game show host asking those two questions. Bizarre!!!

Thanks for any help you can give.

Question 1: No fricking clue![&:]
Question 2: Its got to be some type memory-reset issue. I don't know for sure. But, however, when ya'll are using your cruise does it ever just surge on you and turn off? Or even a decent bump or pot-hole on the highway and it just shuts off?

Once the cruise comes on, it's pretty rock solid. Other than having difficulty holding speed sometimes (possibly due to question 1), no electrical shorts like that have ever been noticed.
