Ok ive had the truck for over 6 months now and never noticed this untill i waxed it the other day.
There is a black like cover between the side windows only on the passenger side and not on the otherside now that i notice it its kinda pissing me off anyone have the same thing on theres? is it supposed to be like that this is not my truck in the piture but its the same color i circled the piece iam talkin about. Anyone know where i can find another one i want it to match. Its kinda like a real think sticker i guess.

Stop by a body shop next time you go by one and ask them. I know which piece you are talking about - but I've always assumed it was painted on. Maybe your truck had body damage on that side and the shop that fixed it didn't notice it either........

 

I have the same thing on my truck... I'm pissed about it because when I was trying to open the rear door, i accidently chipped the paint, so now its black with a red/white chip in it =/ Oh well, it does match my Ram Logo window cover nicely =)

Its called a "B Pillar blackout" or a " pillar applique" they are NOT easyt o put on beleive it or not, and I would know I did that stuff for 8 years....

 

I just looked at my 2000 Sport and I don't have it. Hmmm...

 

I just got a new one for my truck, mine shattered in the cold where there was an air bubble under the vinyl.
I got it new from a local dealer for something around $25 I think.

I can get you the part number from my Mitchell book tomorrow if you need.

 

The trick is applying it without destoying it...most people couldnt if their life depended on it lol

I;d let teh bodyshop order the part,that way THEY are responsible if it gets damaged during install.If its yourpart you provided,they can say"oh, well, sorry,it was bad when we started" and they wont jack the labor rate for installing "outside parts" as in parts they didnt order and verify....
yes,if teh shop is halfway decent they should be able to do that instal rather quickly. They may or may not need ot remove the rear window to get the decal on, I cant remeber for the 2nd gen trucks.... I know you didnt HAVE to but it REALLY helped on the dakotas...I used to do SO many Hyundais and Kias... and they are usualy 2 peice units around the top of the doors, 1 peice goig up the pillar, one across the top....
