Infinity Speaker system
Hi Guys,
Has anyone installed after market head unit on Ram with Infinity System? I want to upgrade my head unit on my 99 Ram to an MP3 player (currently eyeballing the Pioneer DEH-4700 MP Head unit) but have herd that once you change out the factory head unit the speakers will not work properly due to the amplifier that is hooked up to the system.
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yea i stil had my factory speakers in for almost a year. It sounded actually alot better than with the stock radio. If hook it up yourself, do yourself a favor and buy the harness's for the car. You can actually get harnesses from Circuit city that go from the car to a universal, and than from a universal to the radio you want to put in. I had the Pioneer 7700 and than the Avic N-1. Both radios sounded great. I also put some subs in and was very pleased with the way it sounded. I have an mtx thunderform with the amp built in. Easy install and I like it alot! If i can help ya any way, let me know!

FYI, Wal-mart has the adapters for about ~$10
Circuit City charged me $20 for Dodge wiring adapter and $20 for easy wire adapter
The only problem I have with mine is that the crossovers cut the sound at very high volume to protect the factory speakers that won't handle the power, but the aftermarkets will.
I must be getting older since having it that loud hasn't been enough of a priority to make me open the doors back up and re-wire the speakers directly to the HU.

yea ive seen them circuit city setups before... ******** stole my system! lol on my off time from the stereo shop (few years back) id make up a few sets for the more common systems that i did... had the manager order me universal male and female harnesses and then a buttload of replacement harnesses from major brands like pioneer alpine panasonic jvc etc etc... the shop would pay me 1.50 to make each one..id bang out 50 in a day (whenever i would do them) then a few years later..look whos doin the same thing!!!!
anyway... sorry i always have to tell that store when someone brings up circuit city
when i do stereos in the rams like ours with infinity systems.. i tend to bypass the amps all together and just run striaght from the aftermarket deck to the stock or aftermarket speakers.. sounds better (to me that is) .... if you think about it.. an aftermarket deck will produce better sound then a stock deck,, that better sound your sending to stock amps can affect how it sounds... along with that same idea any aftermarket amp will reproduce sound alot beter then any stock amp will!!!
just my $0.68 (inflation)
