Default quick club cab question

Hi there,

well im new to the site and Rams in general, i found a 97 1500 RAM Club Cab at a local dealership im considering getting to work on and all that good stuff, should be a everyday driver for 2-3 months but with it having very high miles 199K! my plan is to get a second car to be the everyday driver in 2 months or so, most likley a chevy since thats all ive owned whil i work on the ram tweaking it etc, swapping engine or rebuild depending on status, ive always liked rams and wanted one for awhile so here is the chance and im considering grabbing it mid-next week..... i dont know anythign except body condition at this point so there could be a change of mind once i pop the hood and test drive.

but anyways thats enough of me blabbing my question is on 97 Club cabs does the rear doors open? i know on 99s they do.

Cheers

Welcome!

A club cab and extended cab are the same thing, no opening doors. It is the quad cab that has opening doors. Dodge came out with the quad cam on a Ram in 1998. The last year you could get an extended cab was '99, so '98 and '99 were the only years both cab options were available.

sounds good, but the money to put one in is outragous.. What size motor does that thing have? If your geting another daily driver in 2 months , buy that thing, and make the motor a STROkER... save the money and hassle with putting in a hemi, changing the PCM and wiring and what not to make the thing run... If it has the 5.2 318 CID then pump that sucker up to a 340 or 390 stroker... If its got the 360 CId make it a 408 *drools* ... Trust me, you'll be suprised how peppy the truck can get after you put a stroker motor in. And the best part?! Haalf the cost of a hemi with more power! And the ability to make it a Blown Stroker, a Wet Stroker, or a Blown and Wet stroker (that just sounds wrong lol)...

But yeah, these trucks have potential... it just cost money, and spending money wisely is ALWAYS a good hting =)

yeah the opening quad cab is definitly a huge bonus. i love having it on my 2001. seriously i would keep looking a little longer and you'll find a quad cab with less miles and less wear. just gotta be willing to wait. if it does have the 360 cid engine make sure you take it to a transmission shop you trust and have them check it out. they are really the weak points on the ram. but yeah eventually i'm gonna make a 408 stroker, blown with nitrous. then i'll take down rm_indy in my 4x4 quad cab short bed...

LOOK OUT rm_indy i'm on your tail.. ok well maybe in a few years after college get's paid off.

well that wait is part of my problem, im a BIG chevy person, and was into looking for a tahoe.... yet a real close dealer has this ram and ive always wanted a ram as well just seem reliable, strong, comfy, etc all around..... i havent had a truck in 6 months almost (darn tickets lol) nd the peopl ei do rely on gettingf rides from seem like they dont like to go far out of their way so this dealer ship at this poiint seems the best choice till i get a car/truck again to go look for my permanent ride which will make it much easier when i can go where ever i need the ram basicaly ios the best thing they have plus as mentioned MNANY times before i always liked them so i figure get it...drive it 1-2 months, look for another ride, work on the ram&make it nice for a personal car and the other for a family car since i do have a kid and 1 oin the way

ok enough about the lifelong story LOL

ps: i dont plan on putting the ram down just work on it here and ther eupgrading etc....this site has me freakking hooked more!! if that ram is gone by wednesday when i plan getting it i will be pissed!
