98 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 transmission
At a 140,000 miles I had my tranny rebuilt ( the 1st time ) since then it has been good .... Now , right when the warranty has run out it seems to slip or not catch right when it goes into second gear . When it goes into passing gear it revs up and when I put it into second gear theres nothing - like Im in nuetral . Time for another tranny rebuild or adjustment ? I have 164 on the odometer now and the only time the truck has let me down was the transmission at 140 . Any help ? Rebuild ? Trade it in ?

Well if you could afford it, at 140,000 id say its about time for a new truck. My dad put about 180,000 on his 97' then she was starting to go to pot (lots of little things). If not id say time to get it looked at for sure, possibly rebuild it if you have no second gear. I guess my vote is if you can afford it the treat yourself to a newer lower miled truck, unless your attached to your truck, get the trans rebuilt/checked out and keep on truckin !!!!

1st thing I did was the fluid level ............ This tranny dosnt slip all the time .... today it was fine . Im still trying to figure it out . The biggest problem is when I go for passing gear and there is nothing but revs on the tach . Cant afford a new truck . Gonna baby this one for a while and see what happens I guess .
