a kid i know put his '98 5.2L up for sale on ebay. it had 150k on it, had 35's, a nice lift, a light bar, and some other offroad stuff. reserve was $6500, bid only got up to like $3000
Often, when you add aftermarket parts to your car/truck, it doesn't INCREASE the value of it. A lot of people see it as a sign the vehicle wasn't treated with care (wheeled/raced/whatever). And it doesn't add any value to the vehicle as far as the blue book is concerned, or as far as a dealer is concerned when you try and trade it on something else. In fact, they usually don't look at the book value/vehicle condition at all if you trade it in modified. They just go by year and mileage, and give you a standard "modified vehicle" trade-in value.

I have been contemplating the same thing but I just bought mine a few months ago so I am upside down on it right now. My payment is low so getting rid of it would probably mean a higher payment and cancel out the gas savings. I am going to see what I can do to get a little more mpg out of mine, like a soft tonneau cover to cut down the wind drag, a little smaller tires, new o2 sensors. I am averaging about 13 doing mostly highway driving (the speedo is definitely off with the bigger tires), but I am thinking I could get around 15 with a couple of adjustments. I suppose getting a beater to get through the price increase is an option but I would hate to resort to that. I like my truck too much!

It's going to be hard to get rid of the full size trucks and suv's right now. Nobody wants them.

Just filled my truck up Saturday. $63. and the light wasn't on yet. It is now sitting in front of the garage to be driven when needed. Meanwhile the Harley and Lumina Z-34 will be my mode of transportation for a while.

Still will not resort to rice crap though. If I'm going to support jobs, they will be American.

speaking of gas I have to fill up twice a week with the amount im driving. So that is usually $100 or more a week. times that by four weeks and my gas bill has just surpased my truck payment. All I have to say is thank you big oil companies for taking my ram and ramming it up my a$$.

Gas sux major, but I dont HAVE to drive much. If it comes down to it, I will jst look at my truck in the garage and like it better than selling it for a car.

I bought a 2001 SB SC WS in the summer of 2001. It's a V6 standard shift. I bought that model because it was all I could afford and I really don't need a truck, I just like them. I bought the V6 5 spd. cause I thought it would save me some gas $$$. Well since there's so much friggen traffic around here I can't remember the last time I had it in 5th gear. As a result I'm probably getting 13-15 MPG max because I probably spend 30% of my drive time idling in traffic. If gas goes to $3.50 I figure it will cost me $1500 - $2000 more a year for gas. I'm thinking about selling the truck for what I can get and leasing some new little tin can. Milage on the truck is around 37K so it's due for a lot of maintanance. I gotta make descision soon.

RED ALERT...RED ALERT: Selling a car or truck to a friend can bite you in the *** with longlasting whining by the perchaser. I know this from experience. But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. This is meant as friendly advice.
