Weird CLUNK under truck?
Ok, so every once in a while i'll be driving down the road, and suddenly when i hit a pit hole (small ones that i dont hardly notice) or a bump, theres this CLUNK under the drivers side, like right under the ebrake where i rest my left foot. I dont feel it too often, but if i am going slow enough over speed bumps the same thing happens... sounds like something is hitting the bottom of the frame or cab... I read somewhere that says that the bolts on the lower control arm could break, but cant recall finding it... Anyone have a clue? (BTW, i can't crawl under there right now, i am about to go to school, then directly to work, and its raining)
Guys, I have the same thing and found that it was the slip joint on my front driveshaft. I crawled under the truck and grabbed the driveshaft and lifted it up and down and it replicated the noise.
I never thought of that, but I checked everything else, control arms, steering shaft, etc. Then I got pissed and just went under the truck and started shaking stuff until I found the driveshaft made the noise.

usually clunk under the vehicle and being able to feel it through the floor boards usually tells ya that your balljoints and or hubs are starting to go... mine does the same tihng but i lucked out and its just the shock bushings crapped out early..
basically to check the hub,,, jack the truck up... and grap the wheel and give it a hell of a yanking.. back forth up down side side... try to isolate where the sound is being produced from... balljoints.. usually you use a crowbar/prybar and squeeze it between the steering nuckle and the axle where the ball joint is and try and pry....if it moves AT ALL then the balljoints are bad
also worn out tie rod ends will do it too... but that will usually give you wondering steering and if you move the steering wheel back and forth really fast you will be able to hear the same noise

Sway bar bushing or stab link? Check both with the wheels on the ground...just grab the sway bay close to the links...any movement could do it...it's a 2wd but can't remember offhand, does it have the "normal" rubber bushing/bolt link, or the half rubber bushing/half tie-rod looking link?
