Default putting a new Catalytic Converter on

Hey guys long time no post! but anyways I saved up some money and i was thinking about replaceing my stock Catalytic Converter with a MagnaFlow Catalytic Converter off of e-bay for about 100 bucks so how hard is it to replace it and will it fit back in?

Also im thinking about ordering the hypertech programer. I hope to see some better pick up.

Thanks Dan

Its actually a pita to do, easier to take it to a exhaust shot. The factory cat has 2 pipes going in that come from the headers, and one pipe going out. So those generic Magnaflows has a single in single out. You'll need a y-pipe that will fit our trucks.

Much easier for an exhaust shop since they can bend the pipes and weld them

Magna-flow makes a reploacement cat that has the dual 2" inlet with the O2 sensor bung already in it...

Check the part numbers with the source. That way you can get a direct fit. Then find a good price...
The one on ebay is a 9400 series, universal.

ddog, I bought that exact cat off of ebay from the same company. I took it to my local muffler shop and they put it on for 60 bucks which I think is very reasonable. Made my exhaust ROAR! (straight pipes off of cat)

Thanks for all the information guys. I am trying to learn about this. I thought I could get a 3 in 3 out cat, but I see now I am going to need a dual 2.5 in and 2.25 out? Is this to create backpressure? I thought I read that (somewhere on this site) some backpressure is needed.

So how do you get to a 3" in and outFlowmaster super 44? Or am I dreaming?

power wise backpressure is needed, when u go straight pipes some low end power is lost. no one has proven that no backpressure is bad. i personally think its a myth. correct me if im wrong guys?ive run open headers, straightpipes, just cats, full exhaust, dumps, side pipes. and ive never had any problems.
