leaking diff
Finished everything earlier today. It was hard work but in the end, success![8D]
I decided to flush the rear diff so I pulled the cover off. The oil was dark and there were lots of metal scraps at the bottom [&:]. I cleaned off the magnet and ragged as many sparkles as I could. There were some pretty big pieces that came out! I also managed to snap a cover bolt due to a POS torq wrench[:@] @#$! I'm super pissed about that.
As for the pinion nut, air is not required. My friend helped me out by using a prybar and I used a ..... 1-1/4" socket, 3/4" drive and lots of effort. Cut myself pretty good too.. The hardest part was pulling the damn seal out after. After lots of cleaning and loads of RTV , my rear was back together again with no leakage. I'll post pics tomorow if anybody's interested.
