Default Starting problem question???

Sometimes in the mornings I start my truck and it cuts back off. Will not idle unless i keep my foot on accelerator. Have to do this for about 5 minutes to get it to idle right. Does not do this all the time just maybe about once a week. Once it gets warmed up it will run fine. Anyone have any ideas what causes this?

The last time that happened to me everybody told me it was a bad alternator. I decided to replace the battery first and it ended up being a bad cell in the battery. So replace the battery and see if that fixes the problem.

Oh yea don't just have it checked the machines that check them aren't always right. My battery was still under warranty and they checked it and told me because it tested good they couldn't replace it. So if your battery has a warrenty and they won't replace it raise hell and ask for a manager.

I'd clean your IAC first. They can get gunked up good and they can areally be affected by tempeture. Much cheaper then a new battery

Yep sounds like a Battery to me..See if the batter is swollen on one side or all..You may have to look really close but if there is any buldges on the battery or humps..Its a dead cell guaranteed..Same thing happend to me last week..I could be wrong but exact same thing. Check for them humps/ swelling on the sides, top, front and back...

Good luck

Agreed.

If the battery was bad, I'd tend to think it wouldn't be able to supply the 175-200 amps to turn the starter...at idle, your ignition and various sensors are drawing probably 25-50 amps...unless you're turning on your a/c, high beams, brake lights, radio, etc., I don't see it being a battery.

I check the battery last night for bulges and it looks fine to me. I did clean the IAC about two weeks ago and it ran fine for 3 days. It only started doing this after that.
