D44 guys...can you look at your axle real quick...
the CAD housing...which way is it facing? when i reinstalled it originally, the vacuum piece was on the drivers side and the electrical switch was on the passenger side.
my 4wd was not engaging correctly though, and i chalked it up to the CAD.
i looked in the 2001 service manual, and it looks like the housing should be the other way, so i flipped it around. am waiting for the sealant to dry before i lower the truck and test it out...but now the vacuum piece is on the passenger side and the electrical switch is on the drivers side. is this correct?

ahh, sweet! so this is probably what was causing my cad to not lock the axles together eh?
and let me tell you, being out on the trail with your back tires 3/4 buried in mud is NOT a good way to find out your 4wd is not functioning correctly. [:@] i can't believe i got out of that
