2001 4x4 1500 Evap problems
I am new to the forum and new to dodge,
I have a question to start of with, Hope someone can shed some light on it for me....
My truck has had the MIL on since the second time I put fuel in (I topped of the tank, I quess thats a no, no)
I have a P0442 and P0445 code in the memory, I replaced the fuel cap with a OEM Dodge locking cap and ran for a couple weeks,
No change.
Yesterday I checked lines, disconected vapor line at solenoid, solenoid side I was able to pull vacuum, (no leaks, lines look good to the canister), tried to pull a vacuum on the metal line going to the tank and could not.
Could the roll over-valve be stuck since I topped of the tank and venting to atmoshere?
Should I be able to pump down a vac in the tank. (using a hand vac tester)
I am planning a big trip next week and would love for the annoying yellow light to be gone...
Thanks in advance for your assistance

Did you reset your computer after you did the cap? The light should go off after a while if the code isn't being tripped but sometimes they need to be reset completely.
i just had my problem fixed yesterday.. the guy said it was a "cracked vacuum line in the rear".. wouldnt allow the gas tank to pressurize.. im not sure exactly which line it was though but if its cracked it mustof been a metal line.. i think the easyiest thing for you to do is let a shop diagnose your truck and tell you exactly where the problem is
9 times out of 10, its going to be a loose gas cap. Make sure the gas cap is on correctly (tight) , disconnect the neg battery cable and hold the key in the START position for 30 seconds. That resets the codes, and PCM. Then the PCM will start its relearn cycle and will take about 200 to 300 miles for the computer to relearn how to perform effeciently. Meaning, if you goose the throttle alot during the relearn cycle, for some reason the truck feels more peppy in the long run. So I've heard
Thanks everyone, I'm going to go measure pressure on vacuum system tonignt and check all lines I can for leaks, if thats not it, I'll have to drop the tank later and see why I can't get the tank to presurize.
