Default Rattle when man trans in gear and underload

Im hoping somebody had this happen already

When I engage the clutch and pull away I get a rattle from under the truck every now and then.

It sounds like a loose heat sheild on the cat but when I go under there I have no heat sheild

I cant get it to rattle when i have it in neutral and rev the engine

Im thinking its not a loose sheild but a bearing in the clutch or something in the cat

Now the warmer the truck gets the less this happens.

Any Ideas?

note...I am going out with my rubber mallet tonight and starting to thump on stuff and see if I can find it.

There's a heat shield further back after the cat, bolted to the underneath of the bed. Could be that one, had to take mine off a few months ago.

Ah

I found it

After 1 year of being on the flowmaster was loose. The front muffler was shaking and banging into the pipe attached to the cat. Anyhow 5 turns of the wrench and some wd-40 to break the rust and all is well.. Scared me though cause I thought I was looking at a bearing in the trans or something.

So note to anyone reading this take a rubber mallet outside and smack around under the truck before you goto have your trans checked.

I tend to make it a habbit during oil changes to wack stuff on the truck to make sure everything is tight, I'll spend all day "changing oil" with all the extra crap I do. Wacking stuff with a mallet tends to be more enjoyable that it really sounds.
