My luck just keeps getting worse!!
Well I pulled into the garage and something was rattling(it has done it for a long time I think its m cat or a heat shield) so i revved it up a little them almost red-lined it. It seemed to idle slighly rougher after that, but I didnt think anything of it. I get in the truck a while later to leave starts up runs fine, put it into reverse and nothing. It jst revved up so I put it into drive and the same thing happened. It still seems like it goes into reverse and drive by how it will rev up barely then drop rpm again, but will jst rev up. When I put it into park tho it makes a bad grinding type noise for a second. Vacum line of some sort. Any help would be great...thanx
It makes a grinding niose when you put it in Park? Thats usually the parking claw in the trans, but that could only happen if your moving.
Maybe somebody stole your driveshaft
Also be easy on the revving cause it makes a noise...one of my friends did that in his Blazer and his fan shot off (thats what the rattling was) and cut is whole can shroud, trans lines, rad lines, and a huge hole in his rad. Good thing it didn't go through his hood.

It makes a grinding noise as im putting it back into park, doesnt do it once its in park. This sux. O ya, driveshaft is still there..lol
Update------- When in park it will jst keep rolling whatever stops it from rolling in park obviously doesnt work. There is some tranny fluid underneath but not enough to drip onto the floor.
yeah thats something with your tranny.. when my rear end went in my old truck i could put it in park and still roll the truck around.. but you would know if your rear was going bad

When you put it in drive does the driveshaft spin?
That would eliminate a the out-put shaft theory.
Most likely it's your parking pawl...[:'(]

Its the output shaft then. And when you put it into park its your parking pawl catching, not good for it. When you put it in drive your trans still does everything, except the drive shaft doesn't spin because of the output shaft being broke. Usually when you hit the brakes and stop it stops your drive shaft from spinning (obviously) which stops the output shaft and all the transmission stuff. Since the output shaft is broke its letting the trans spin freely with nothing to stop it.
Its pretty much the same thing as going like 5-10 mphs and slamming it right into park, not good. Way to stop this until you fix it is put it into nuetral, then turn the engine off. then you can shift into Park and you should be okay
