messed up my dads new driveway
ok so when i was changing out the hubs/u-joints/axle seals, i spilled a few things on my dads 3 week old $3500 new driveway. few stains, nothing major.
BUT, in one spot, about a 5 inch diameter circle, there is a dark stain. not a big deal, but it also got as soft as goop. i can literally just pull it out with my fingers. not sure what landed there, probably gear lube, but could be brake fluid or PS fluid.
how do i fix this?? needless to say, my dad was quite a bit pissed off about it, and unless i can fix it, i doubt i'll be doin any involved work on my truck or any vehicle anytime soon.

Is the driveway asphalt??
I remember working on a friends bike and some gas spilled from the tank on the asphat and the same thing happened... I don't think there is a way of fixing it other than retarring it.

Gas or Synthetic Gear Oil will turn your asphalt driveway soft. I dunno how to fix it, I imagine soak it up with kittly litter or something similar then maybe just put some sealer over it?
Dig out what you can and check with the local highway dept to see if you could get what is called "cold patch".
Its what you see them filling potholes with.
Or you could call your local Lowe's and see what they suggest.
Either way, there is going to be reminents of your little WHOOPS[:-]

Well if it a concrete driveway you can use muratic acid from home depot out in the lawn and garden dept pour it on there let set 5 min then rinse off but do not stand on top of it its really stong and will make you cough that should work!!!!
get this stuff called blacktop repair or Top n Bond from home depot or lowes.. it'll come in a 40 pound or so bag.. its pretty much just black top you set out in the sun for awhile to heat up.. then fill in the hole
get some sawdust. dump a crap load on the spot and see if that soakes it up a bit. usually if it's oil based the sawdust will soak up the liquid. then all you have to do is sweep up the saw dust.
if it's the driveway i'm really sorry man. you're pretty much sol and maybe you can work something out with whoever did the driveway to have it fixed.

actually it is kind of funny how quickly i am killing his new driveway. my dad does not like to spend money, and when gets somethin it has to last forever..case in point, he has an absolutely perfect 1997 tahoe that he bought new. not a single deviation from stock, inside looks better than some new cars on the lot. didn't even break 50,000 miles yet. i don't think it's even seen over 3000 rpm's in its life.
anyway...that means he is not happy if i damage his stuff. in the first three weeks of the driveway, there are now: oil stains, mushy gear lube stain...and a big Baja Claw imprint [:@]because i got a little too hard on the gas in the first couple of days the driveway was new (very soft for the first weeks).
but, i do really feel bad...
