Default cheap exhaust options

ok i really wana do my exhaust next, but im tryin to save money, but i want the flowmaster sound so im not goin for a glasspack or resonator

im wondering if a flowmaster 40 would sound good with teh stock piping, does anyone know? (just replace muffler, keep all exhaust piping the same) would it be pointless to do this, should i just save up and get the entire system done?

Honestly i'd just wait until you can afford more. Your just going to be disappointed after a week and wish you would have done something else. Then you'll end up paying more later so you can get the sound you wanted to begin with.

When I bought my truck used 2 yrs ago from a dealership I thought the loud exhaust sound was because of the exhaust system that was on it. Needless to say, the loud noise was from a huge hole in the muffler on the top side which I didnt see upon testing the vehicle. I called the dealer a few days later and explained the situation and they told me to bring the vehicle back in to have the muffler replaced FREE of charge. They took it to a local muffler shop and they installed a flowmaster on it for me, not sure of the model # tho.

It's got the stock 2.25" pipes from the cat back to the flowmaster then to dual exhaust and it sounds alright. Its got a deep sound to it upon acceleration and a nice little rumble at idle, kinda reminds me of a friends inboard boat motor.

I'd say if you dont want to spend over $200 for a new system of 3" pipes/muffler right now that just a flowmaster is way better than the stock muffler. If I had a digital camera w/video I would record the sound for you.

i have 40 series flowmaster with a single out (stock piping).. sounds very ignorant.. i love the sound.. not quite as loud as the duals but its plenty loud enough to turn heads.. if i were you and that was my only option.. i'd deffinently just replace the mufflers.. its better then nothing and i know you'll love the sound
