Default yet another tranny problem

i think one of my sensors are trying to go out. this morning the truck acted like it was in a higher gear and wouldn't really go. it was like it was straining to move. once i got going it did fine except when it goes into 3rd it shudders. PLEASE don't tell me i need a new tranny. if i do, did they ever make a standard for the 5.9 gas burner, because if they did i would really like to get rid of this auto. or can i put an old school 727 with out all that computer crap in my '01?

I had a car do that when the fluid was low. Instead of checking the fluid when the car was on I did it when it was off. Thus when it turned on it was pretty low. That and I read the stick wrong in the dark. I added alot of transflid and it ran fine.
