air intake on 96 ram, worth it or no?
Kenne Bell did some tests years ago on their own rear wheel dyno.
They found completely removing the stock air inlet system on a 1998 Magnum 5.9V8 yielded about a 8 rear wheel hp gain - so that is about the maximum you can get - about (8/185) or 4%
In tests on a 1995 I found that the air ducting in front of the air filter restricted about 4 inches of water pressure at wide open throttle and 4000 rpm, which is about 1%
The 2002-2003 Rams with 5.9V8 Magnums have a less restrictive factory designed air intake. Many Ram owners have taken those off and you can find them on eBay cheaply. You might also look for the much larger air inlet system on a 1994-2001 Ram Cummins I6 diesel and adapt it to your Ram's gasoline system.

which is a bit pricey in my opinion but is very similar to the type used on NASCAR after many years of trial and error.
