Default Back-up lights

I believe I need to replace the back-up lamps located on the cab rear of a 1998 Ram 1500 4WD. I am sure someone can tell me how to remove the lens cover/assembly without total destruction. The owner’s manual instructions are to remove the two screws and pull the complete assembly straight out. Mine does not budge after removing the two screws and feels as if other fasteners lock it down. An adhesive is not holding it in as I can run a knife blade between the assembly and the cab sheet metal. Anyone have advice or experienced my problem?
Thanks for the help.

If you can run a knife blade down there then you've just cut the gasket :P

I don't remember anything else other than the 2 screws and a little wiggling to seperate the gasket from years of being stuck there. I'm talking about the cab lights, up by the 3rd brake light...but your title says backup lights, which are at the end of the bed with the regular brake lights...those are tough...once the 2 screws are removed, there's 2 metal screw-type things that go into 2 metal retainers...they rust up pretty good...never broken them before, so I wouldn't worry too much, just pull straight out with some wiggling.

Others have had this problem. When I took mine out I just took the 2 screws out and it pulled off. There are some butterfly, christmas tree, or whatever you want to call them clips holding it on so it probably will just take a good tug.
