I did it! I picked up some of the Mopar Combustion Cleaner from my local Dodge dealership. Price was $6.00 plus tax. I sprayed it in the 2 chambers of the throttle body while my wife was slowly giving keeping the truck from stalling at approx 1000 rpm until the can was empty (this is what a Dodge mechanic told me to do). I then let it sit for 2 hours. I put everything back together and started it up. The truck smoked for about 10 seconds. I punched the gas a few times and IMMEDIATELY noticed a HUGE improvement. I got it on the interstated and kept it at 80 for 4 miles. I then punched the gas about 10 times to get whatever carbon crap out of the exhaust. The truck idles much smoother now. Last, I went to go top off the tank to see if this makes a difference on my mpg. I currently get 14.2. We'll see.

So that's it. I have no clue about the Seafoam stuff, but the MOPAR stuff is a winner with me!

bringing back an old thread.

when you spray this into the tb. you should have someone give it gas just enough to keep from stalling, but what if that isn't enough to keep the TB valves open to spray it in? or do you just hold them open all the way?

and *if* I do have a leaky plenum, is it still okay to spray this right through the TB?

why do you need someone to keep it running when you can twist the part the throttle cable connects to right on the tb??!

well to use the product you are supposed to keep the engine on and rev it enough to keep it from stalling, was just wondering what to do, actually I assumed that if you were to lift the valves yourself with the truck on it would rev it up or something

edit: wait I read your post wrong, what do you mean you can twist the throttle cable? what will that do? I thought you meant lift up the valves.

I think you may want to replace the plenum gasket first, or else the cleaner will have to be added again later. The oil getting into the combustion is part of what adds the carbon. I don't think would "hurt" anything, just seems out of sequence.

Anybody ever have any trouble with the catalytic converter after this cleaning?

Thanks,
Lee
