Towing power
Chain, ewwwwwwwwwwww! [sm=badidea.gif] Chains are pretty deadly if they break, and frankly I trust tow straps over chains.
If you broke a 4" strap if must have been freyed or just tore up somewhere cause they're pretty hardy!

Pulling stumps/skidding trees is a perfect example!
We've got some chains that have been around since before I was born...never had a problem with any of them. Much like winch cable, you have to make sure you take care of them
Chains all the way.
Wish I had my video camera the other day while dragging a couple of Fords down a driveway with chains. The F150 had no front axle/suspension, just springs hanging down and the ranger was sliding on the frame.

we had to cut down a huge oak tree last year.. about 80 feet tall and 4 feet thick.. it was leaning towards the house so we hooked our tahoe up to a rope and tied it to the top of the tree and pulled it the opposite dirrection to hold it.. cut threw the tree about half way and yanked at it with the tahoe.. pulled the tree down and dragged it a good 20 feet from the house.. its really amazing what trucks can do
Well I think you should be fine towing that boat just take it nice and slow. and the people that tell you to put it in 4-lo or even 4 wheel drive are smokeing crack thats just asking for trouble and definatly a dumb idea. I towed a F-350 6880 pounds on a 4600lb heavy equipment trailer 200miles and it went fine but electric Brakes is a MUST for that much weight so i would suggest getting a brake controler if you dont already have one. hope eveything goes well. YOU CAN DO IT ITS A DODGE!

We weren't suggesting that he TOW with it in 4-lo. We were suggesting that he put it in 4-lo when trying to pull the boat & trailer OUT of the water.
Pulling 14,000lbs out of the water on an wet/sandy incline isn't easy [8D] Putting it in 4-wheel or 4-lo in that situation is logical...no matter what truck you're using.
