Default Tranny problems!!!!!

Yesterday, while coming home from school my tranny and check engine light came on. Pulling off from a stop sign my truck drove like it was in overdrive, then the light came on. It did it again, so I put the gear in 2 and it drove fine until I stopped again, and the process started over again. So I went to Cottman transmission, they said that I have a couple of sensors gone bad and it may cost about $500.00 to fix also they said that they would need to drop my tranny pan to see if there is any metal... Well we all know what's next, he said that I may need to have my tranny replaced, somehow I knew he would say that. cost to replace $ 1800.00. If anyone out there has any suggestions, comments, or experience with this problem please help!!!

When you are dealing with nationwide transmission shops, you might want to get a second opinion. Unless you have diagnosed the problem yourself and tell them what to do, they have a tendency to see bigger problems than really exist. This includes dealerships.

When I worked at the dealership I also replaced alot of gov. pressure sensors. Sometimes they can be tricky diagnose. I have seen the voltage reading on the sensor to low but not out of the PCM's range of reading. No check engine light but still take off in high gear. I'd be sure to get the codes.
