My quistion is if you get the tranny rebuild with a after market kit do you still have to use the atf + 4 fluid or can u use the dextron 3 ?

Yes...you still have to use ATF+4. Or you could use a synthetic alternative like Amsoil.

Valvoline now has an atf+4. Full synthetic. Only about 4 or 5 bucks per quart instead of the 8-9 the stealership is charging up here. Found it at CarQuest.
